Roman Empire 27 BC - AD 476
The Roman Empire continued where the
Roman Republic had left off.
First emperor of the Roman
Empire was
Augustus
Caesar, who ruled as such from 27 BC to AD 14.
The Roman Empire later split into:
the
East Roman Empire,
also called
the Eastern Roman Empire or the Byzantine Empire,
|
and the
West Roman Empire,
or Western
Roman Empire. |
The West Roman Empire gained new
momentum with
Charlemagne in AD 800.
