WHO FOUGHT AT THE BATTLE OF HASTINGS?
The king of England,
Harold II, fought against the duke of Normandy,
William I the
Conqueror.
WHY WAS THE BATTLE OF
HASTINGS FOUGHT?
In a nutshell, because of confusion regarding the rightful heir
apparent.
When Edward the Confessor died, his cousin
William of Normandy
thought he was next in line for the throne. Instead, and to spice
things up a bit, on his deathbed
Edward gave Harold, who managed to become a man even more
powerful than the king, the thumbs up.
William decided it was time for the
Norman Conquest.
Who won, who lost?
William won and became King William of England. Harold caught an arrow
with his eyeball and died.
