Gaspard II de Coligny 1519-1572
Gaspard was the Lord De Châtillon, a French admiral, and a Huguenot.
Together with
Louis I de Bourbon,
Gaspard led the
Huguenots in
the early stages of the French
Wars of Religion.
In this function he was murdered by the
Catholic de Guise family in the infamous
Massacre of Bartholomew's Day on August 24, 1572.
