Honorius was the emperor of the West Roman Empire from 393 to
423.
The Family of
Honorius
Honorius' father was Roman
Emperor Theodosius I.
Honorius' mother was
Aelia Flacilla.
Honorius' elder brother was
Arcadius, who became
sole emperor of the East Roman Empire after their father's
death in 395.
Honorius wife was
Maria, daughter of
Flavius Stilicho. Maria died and Honorius kept it in the
family and married Maria's sister
Thermantia.
Honorius' Reign
Honorius was ten years old when
his father, Theodosius I, died and he, Honorius, became
emperor.
Honorius had his hands full with
the
Visigoths.
In 407 Honorius decided to
withdraw his troops from Britain, a decision that he
confirmed in 410 by means of the
Honorian Rescript.

But focusing on mainland Europe
wasn't good enough. In 410, and led by
Alaric, the Visigoths sacked Rome. Honorius
fled to Ravenna.
