Lee Harvey Oswald 1939-1963
Lee Harvey Oswald was the accused but
never convicted assassin of
John F.
Kennedy.
The
Assassination of Lee Harvey Oswald
Oswald was arrested on November 22, 1963, for the assassination of
President Kennedy and the murder of a Dallas police officer.
On November 24, 1963, Oswald was going
to be moved from
jail to an office for further questioning. In
the basement of the police station Oswald was on his way to a car
accompanied by police bodyguards (see photo - left and right of
Oswald and both with hat) when
Jack Ruby shot Oswald in the stomach with a Colt .38 revolver.
A bunch of reporters were present, hence
we have excellent footage.

Oswald died in hospital two hours later. Jack Ruby was arrested and
later died in prison.
It's unclear why Ruby, a nightclub
owner, shot Oswald. Some say that he simply wanted to avenge
Kennedy's assassination. Others are convinced that it was part of a
big scale conspiracy.
