Louis V the Sluggard 967-987
According to
Carolingian tradition, Louis V too had a nickname.
His was,
in French, Louis le Fainéant, or Louis the Do-Nothing,
Louis the Sluggard. Which kind of could explain why he was to
become the last of the Carolingian rulers.
Louis V ruled from 986 to 987, which wasn't
very long, but his father
Lothair had him crowned already
back in 979.
So at least Louis had some good time anticipating it.
Louis V died and
Hugh Capet, not
a Carolingian, was elected king of France by the nobles.
