Pope Benedict XVI was born as Joseph
Alois Ratzinger in Marktl am Inn, Germany.
Since 2005, and if you are Catholic, you may call him His
Holiness, as Ratzinger then was chosen to become
John Paul II's
successor.

On May 28, 2006, Benedict XVI visited the
former Nazi concentration camp at Auschwitz-Birkenau, located in
today's Poland. The camp at Auschwitz was the Nazi's largest
concentration and extermination camp. Here, Benedict XVI delivered a
speech to commemorate the victims.

From April 15 to 20, 2008, Pope Benedict
XVI went on his Apostolic Journey to the United States. On April 18,
he stopped by the UN Headquarters and delivered his
Address to the United Nations General Assembly.
