Theodoric was Theodoric the Great
because he was king of the
Ostrogoths from
471 - 526.
Theodoric invaded Italy and declared
himself king of Italy in 493, setting up his capital at Ravenna.
Theodoric's father was Theodemir,
who died in 471.
