Frances Nisbet was a window and mother of her seven year old son
Josiah, when she married
Horatio Nelson in March 1787.
Frances and Horatio had met two years
earlier, in 1785, on the island of
Nevis,
birthplace of
Alexander Hamilton.
In Lady Nelson's life, humiliation manifested itself
in the shape of
Emma Hamilton.
