Obviously, Abbott's books were penned in the writing style of his
time. And even though it was possible to get away with having a sentence
running over half the page back then, Abbott's
narrative is easy to follow and enjoyable.
Abbott doesn't ambush you with historical facts. Instead, he
equips his readers with background information that prepares
them for the person, event, or action that is to follow.
