Blois
Today, Blois is a town in central
France.
Back in the days, the
counts of Blois
were vassals of the kings, who at the time were provided by the
Capetian
Dynasty.
The first count of Blois was
Thibaut
I the Cheat. Thibaut died around 977.
Mainly due to their territorial growth,
the counts of Blois became top competition for the king of France.
It really got interesting in the year
1023, when
the count of Blois, then Eudes II, added
Champagne to
his realm and thus sandwiched the king between his terrains.
