Charles X, also called
Charles-Philippe or simply the
Comte D'Artois, was the king of France from 1824 until 1830.
In 1791, Charles invited
Frederick William II,
king of Prussia, and
Leopold II,
Holy Roman emperor, for a chat. The result was the
Declaration of Pillnitz.
In 1830, Charles issued four
ordinances, also called July Ordinances, that didn't
sit well with the radical element of Paris, and resulted in
the
July Revolution.
Charles had to pack his knapsack and the new French king was
Louis-Philippe.
