Robert M. La Follette 1855-1925
They called him Fighting Bob La
Follette.
Robert Marion La Follette Sr. was born in
Wisconsin.
La Follette was the Governor of
Wisconsin from 1901 to 1906. He then served as U.S. Senator
(1906-1925).
On October 6, 1917, La Follette
delivered his address
Free Speech in Wartime in the Senate. This address is
also called the Free Speech and the Right of Congress to Declare
the Objects of the War speech.
In 1924, the Progressive Party picked La
Follette as their presidential candidate. Here are the election
