Tiberius was born Tiberius
Claudius Nero on November 16, 42 BC.
His father was Tiberius Claudius
Nero, the Elder and his mother was
Livia Drusilla.
In 39 BC, mother Livia divorced
father Tiberius. In 38 BC she remarried to
Augustus.
Augustus, in turn, had a
daughter from a previous marriage,
Julia the Elder.
In 11 BC, Augustus forced
Tiberius to divorce his wife and marry his daughter Julia
instead.
And to make a full circle,
Augustus adopted Tiberius.
Tiberius was a capable general.
His reign as emperor started
promising, but ended in terror.
Tiberius adopted
Caligula and
named him his successor.
Tiberius died on March 16, 37.
