king Perseus.
The Roman army was led by their general
Lucius Aemilius Paullus Macedonicus. (Paulus' father, General
Lucius Aemilius Paullus, was killed at the Battle of Cannae in 216
BC against Hannibal.)
The Battle of Pydna turned into a decisive defeat of Perses, and
became the destruction of the Macedonian monarchy.
