Elizabeth 1709-1762
Empress Elizabeth, or czarina, ruled Russia from 1741 until 1762.
Elizabeth was the daughter of famous
Peter I the Great.
Her mother was
Catherine I.
Although she was a smart woman,
Elizabeth couldn't quite fill her father's shoes.
But then again, who could have.
The first Russian university in Moscow came into existence thanks to
her, as did the Winter Palace in St Petersburg.
Elizabeth liked to
spend money. People also mentioned her beauty. And here is a picture
of her, double chin and all.
