Hirohito was Japan's emperor from December 25, 1926 until January 7,
1989.
Nagako Kuni became Hirohito's
wife in 1924.
On August 14, 1945, Hirohito recorded a
speech announcing his official surrender in
World War
II.
At noon the next day, August 15, 1945, his recording was
broadcasted to the nation of Japan.
On January 1, 1946, Hirohito broke the hearts
of many loyal Japanese when he announced that he, in fact, was not divine.
Hirohito's son, Akihito became
his successor in 1989.
