Mohamed Nasheed — Born 1967
There is No Plan B,
Because There's No Planet B
Mr Nasheed was the president of
the Maldives from 2008 to 2012.
The Maldive Islands are a group of around 1,200 coral atolls
located 400 miles or 645 kilometers southwest of Sri Lanka.
Here is the map:

None of the coral atolls, which
are the tips of an ancient volcanic mountain range, sticks
out more
than 6 feet or 1.8 meters above sea level.
Which makes climate change an
interesting topic. A sea level rise of even two feet or half
a meter would make much of the Maldives uninhabitable.
Why should you care?
But the Maldives is no special case; simply
the canary in the world's coal mine.
