Rurik Dynasty 862-1598
The Rurik dynasty provided rulers over
Kievan Rus and Moscovy.

Its founder was Rurik, the
Varangian.
The last tsars of the Rurik Dynasty were
Ivan IV the
Terrible, who ruled 1547 - 1584, and Ivan's son Fyodor I,
also spelled Fedor, who ruled 1584 - 1598.
When Fyodor died without a child in
1598, Fyodor's brother-in-law
Boris Godunov
was made tsar by vote.
And that was the end of the ruling Rurik
family.
