Battle of Edgehill — October
23, 1642
The battle of Edgehill, also spelled Battle of Edge Hill, was the first big
battle of the
English Civil
Wars.

Who fought?
Charles I and his
nephew Prince Rupert led the Royalists and the Earl of
Essex was commander of the Parliamentarian troops.
The outcome? Approx 1,000 people were
killed and 2,000 people were injured. It was a draw.
