Edward VII 1841-1910
Albert Edward's famous mother was
Queen Victoria.
His father was
Albert of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha.
Albert Edward became king of Great
Britain and Ireland, and emperor of India.
Albert Edward went to Oxford and
Cambridge. At some point, he was involved with an actress, which
caused much stink at the family's dinner table. When his father died of typhoid, his
mother let Albert Edward know that his fooling around with the actress
was part of the reason why his father had died.
On the whole, Queen
Victoria was not at all pleased with her son Albert
Edward. Thus, she arranged that Albert Edward would not be
involved in any major affairs of state until he was way
over 50 years old.
Curse or blessing, Albert Edward enjoyed life. He loved sports and especially racing.
In 1863, Albert Edward married
Alexandra of Denmark and fathered, among others,
King George V.
