George V 1865-1936
A navy man, George's real
name was George Frederick Ernest Albert. He ruled the United
Kingdom of Great Britain from 1910 (crowned 1911) until his death.
In 1917, George V changed the name of
his family from Saxe-Coburg-Gotha to Windsor.
George's father was
King Edward VII, whose real name was
Prince Albert Edward. His mother was
Alexandra, a (great)
Dane.
One of his sons and successor to the throne was
King Edward VIII.
