February 12, 1809
Abraham Lincoln is born in Kentucky, and Charles Darwin is born at Shrewsbury, England.

 

April 9, 1809
Alliance between Austria and Britain.

 

The Austrian War begins.

May 10, 1809
The French show up in front of the gates of Vienna. The  Austrian War begins. It will end on October 14, 1809.

 

May 11, 1809
For six long hours, the French bombard Vienna.

 

May 13, 1809
Vienna surrenders to the French.

 

May 21 - 22, 1809
Battle of Aspern-Essling. Austrian victory over the French. This battle is part of the  Austrian War.

 

July 5-6, 1809
Battle of Wagram (French victory)

July 10, 1809
Austria sues for peace, which will be confirmed by the Treaty of Schonbrunn on October 14, 1809.
