The Corps Législatif replaces the Conseil des Cinq-Cents, which had to quit on December 26, 1799. The Corps Législatif will be in effect until June 4, 1814.

The Army of England (Armée d'Angleterre) is renamed
Army of the West (Armée de l'Ouest). Commander: Brune, who replaces Hedouville.

 

March 14, 1800
The Catholic Church has a new pope, Pope Pius VII.

 

March 16, 1800
Britain and Bavaria sign a treaty of alliance.

 

March 20, 1800
Battle of Heliopolis. French victory. This battle is part of Napoleon's  Egyptian Campaign.

 

March 29, 1800
Creation of the
Second Army of the Reserve (Deuxième Armée de Réserve).

 

April 2, 1800
The new French Defense Minister is
Lazare-Nicolas-Marguerite Carnot. He succeeds Louis-Alexandre Berthier.

 

April 20, 1800
Britain and Wurttemberg sign a treaty of alliance at Louisburg.

 

April 21, 1800
The
Siege of Genoa begins. It will end on June 4, 1800.

 

April 24, 1800
Jacques Macdonald, duc de Tarente is made the commander of the
2nd Army of the Reserve, but he is still on sick leave.

 

April 27, 1800
Brune, gives temporary command over the
Army of the West (Armée de l'Ouest) to Hedouville and takes off. On May 2, 1800, the new commander, Bernadotte, will arrive.

 

April 30, 1800
Britain and Mayence (Mainz) sign a treaty of alliance.

 

May 2, 1800
Bernadotte is the new commander of the
Army of the West (Armée de l'Ouest).

Siege of Genoa ends. It had begun on April 21, 1800.

 

June 14, 1800
Battle of Marengo. French victory.

 

June 20, 1800
Britain and Austria sign a treaty of alliance.

 

September 2, 1800
Jaques Macdonald joins his
2nd Army of the Reserve in Dijon. Together, they move into Switzerland.

 

September 30, 1800
The Treaty of Morfontaine, also called the Treaty of Friendship and Commerce, is concluded between the United States and France. After revision, this treaty will be ratified by both countries on July 31, 1801. The
Quasi War is over. It had begun on July 7, 1798.

 

October 8, 1800
French Defense Minister
Lazare-Nicolas-Marguerite Carnot resigns. The new Defense Minister is the old Defense Minister, Louis-Alexandre Berthier.

 

October 17, 1800
The Second Army of the Reserve is renamed the
Army of the Grisons.

 

December 3, 1800
Battle of Hohenlinden. French victory.

 

Mid-December 1800
The French knock on the doors of the Benedictine abbey at Melk, a town located only 55 miles west of Vienna, thus scaring the bejesus out of every Austrian in the vicinity.

Armistice concluded at Steyr.
